Since April 1994

Started by a store man. Still run from the counter.

Suliman "Solly" Essack started out as a store man, worked the counter as a salesman, and went on to manage three of South Africa's largest electrical wholesalers. In April 1994 he opened Discount Electrical Wholesalers.

The idea hasn't changed: people behind the counter who know the stock, wholesale prices for trade and walk-in customers alike, and a lighting showroom you can walk through.
